Angel's Story - in loving memory of Benjamin James Kirk Cordell

04 Mar 2021

“I say Benjamin James Kirk Cordell's, name to keep his memory alive.  As long as I’m alive, he will forever be adored and remembered.”

Angel - Benjamin's Mum

Benjamin was born on 21st June 2020 at 11.14 pm. His wasn’t the birth we’d dreamed of, it was 2 days after my termination for medical reasons. He was born through love at just 22+1 weeks along.

We wanted little Benjamin. So much. Every moment of his short life he experienced love. The ending of a wanted pregnancy for medical reasons was immensely mentally challenging. My soul was crushed.

But my baby didn’t die in pain, he died in love. So much love. As the poem says, ‘if loving you could have saved you, you would have lived forever.’

At the moment I don’t have any other children but my partner, Nathan, is my support. He has been with me on every step of the journey.

I was also supported by Precious Wings’ box making support group sessions and by SANDS and Red Nose at their Walk to Remember.

I say Benjamin James Kirk Cordell, name to keep his memory alive.  As long as I’m alive, he will forever be adored and remembered.

An Angel in the book of life wrote down our baby’s birth, and whispered as she closed the book, ‘too beautiful for earth’.

Angel is raising money for Red Nose, including Sands in memory of Benjamin James Kirk Cordell.
