In loving memory...

By Lan Trinh

I do not wish for my donation to appear on the memory wall.

Every little life matters and deserves to be celebrated

I created this page for Say Their Name Day to raise funds for Sands and Red Nose so they can continue their important work supporting bereaved families across Australia.

If you can support my fundraiser, you will be helping to bring care and comfort to families when they need it most.

Every dollar raised helps support bereaved families by making sure every family has access to the information and networks they need to move forward and rebuild their lives, now and in the future.

That means timely access to information resources, an understanding voice on the end of the phone, and an ongoing connection with other families through support groups and remembrance activities.

So please, help me raise much-needed funds to ensure every bereaved family has access to the support they need, for as long as they need it.

Thank you.

Jack Mitchell Hornsby

Thursday 4th Mar
10th of November 2020, the day our lives changed forever.

I was 26 weeks pregnant, fourth pregnancy. What could possibly go wrong? Everything!

We went to hospital early Tuesday morning, because I awoke around midnight and felt excruciating lower back pain. The pain was unbearable, and had now intensified to my abdomen, the discomfort felt like contractions.

Finally we got to the maternity ward, where we were put into a room. We weren’t in the room for long before the midwife took out her Doppler to check for Jack's heartbeat. Our hearts shattered with words we never thought we'd ever hear. "I'm sorry, there's no heartbeat."
Sadly, even though it's hard to accept, our son Jack Mitchell Hornsby was stillborn.
Jack died of an undiagnosed placental abruption, which occurs when the placenta detaches from the inner wall of the womb before delivery.

12:52pm our son, baby Jack was delivered. He was so perfect. We were able to spend some precious days with baby Jack in the hospital. Where we were able to hold, hug and kiss him for as long as we wanted. We were also lucky enough to have professional photos taken by Heartfelt, before we had to say goodbye forever.

For the rest of my life, I will never forget what it felt like to leave the hospital without  baby Jack in my arms.  Instead, going home to plan our baby's funeral.

Since this  unplanned journey we never thought we'd have to take. We've learnt stillbirths and miscarriages can happen to anyone.

Hayden and  I, are dedicated to help prevent other families from experiencing the devastating tragedy of stillbirth.

By sharing our story we hope to create awareness and assist in raising as much funds as possible  to support research needed to prevent and reduce the rate of stillbirth.

I sincerely hope you and your partner are doing well and look forward to hearing from you again one day, kind regards Chris Handley
