Say Their Name Day

By Meg Browne

Every little life matters and deserves to be celebrated

I created this page for Say Their Name Day to raise funds for Red Nose (including Sands) so they can continue their important work supporting bereaved families across Australia.

If you can support my fundraiser, you will be helping to bring care and comfort to families when they need it most.

Every dollar raised helps support bereaved families by making sure every family has access to the information and networks they need to move forward and rebuild their lives, now and in the future.

That means timely access to information resources, an understanding voice on the end of the phone, and an ongoing connection with other families through support groups and remembrance activities.

So please, help me raise much-needed funds to ensure every bereaved family has access to the support they need, for as long as they need it.

Thank you.

My Updates

In Memory of Opie Thomas McEwen

Tuesday 22nd Mar
Opie was born on the 29th of July 2021 making his entrance to this world known screaming at the top of his lungs. He was beautiful and perfectly healthy! He was our second child and so loved and adored by his brother Darby.

We were discharged from hospital a few days later and after being at home only a few hours, I noticed Opie didn’t seem quite right. I took Opie back to our local hospital to find he was incredibly unwell. He was flown to Westmead Children’s Hospital with his Dad and my Mum and I drove the almost 5 hours to meet them. Opie had the most amazing team of nurses and doctors caring for him, I will never forget the faces of the beautiful people that showed so much compassion and care for our boy and our family.

We were told Opie’s heart was perfect, his liver and kidneys were damaged but improving, but he had zero brain function. Opie would never walk, talk or live independently. Opie passed away in my arms on the 3rd of July surrounded by so much love from his Dad, both his grandmothers and his great aunt.

Our house is full of photos and memories of our precious boy and we talk about him daily. We love to talk about Opie, it is important to us to speak about him, it is even more important for Darby. He met his baby brother, saw him leaving in the plane and it was so confusing for us to return home without his baby brother.

We will say his name everyday for the rest of our lives. We miss you & love you even more Opie Thomas 🧡
