“Even though Ella is not on this earth she is still very much a part of our family. She will never be forgotten.”
Elisa, Ella’s mum
Ella, our first child, was stillborn on 18 April 2007 at 40 weeks gestation.
Prior to Ella’s birth we had experienced a number of miscarriages but once 20 weeks gestation had passed my wonderful husband Tim and I thought we were home and hosed, so to speak. Stillbirth was not on our radar, especially at 40 weeks.
When I went into labour we went to the hospital. Foetal monitoring revealed there was no heartbeat, although I didn’t know that until after Ella was born.
We don’t know why Ella was stillborn and I just want to tell everyone to never take pregnancy and birth of a healthy baby for granted. And if you experience loss, accept help when it is offered. People may say the wrong thing, like “it wasn’t meant to be”, but forgive them, they mean well.
Even though Ella is not on this earth she is still very much a part of our family. She will never be forgotten.
